Frequently asked questions

For Singapore citizens and permanent residents aged 55 and below, the employer contributes 17 percent and the employee 20 percent of ordinary wages, with lower rates for older age bands. Contributions are computed on the monthly ordinary wage ceiling, which is S$8,000 from January 2026.

Yes. Employers must issue itemised payslips to all employees covered by the Employment Act, at least once a month.

Employers must submit employment income information to IRAS by 1 March each year. Employers with five or more employees must do so electronically under the Auto-Inclusion Scheme.

No. CPF applies to citizens and permanent residents. Work pass holders may attract a foreign worker levy depending on pass type.

When a foreign employee ceases employment or leaves Singapore, the employer must file Form IR21 with IRAS, generally at least one month before departure, and withhold monies until clearance is given.
